The work
Made here. One at a time.
A custom ring starts as a drawing at my counter and ends in your hand. Four stages, from the drawing to your finger.
-
01Sketch
Drawn with you, at the counter.
You bring the idea. A photo of something you saw, a stone you already own, a ring you want made into one you will wear. I draw it with you at the counter, and you leave knowing the number.
-
02Wax
The ring before it is metal.
The design becomes a wax, at full size. This is where the shape gets decided. You can hold it and see it on your finger before any metal is touched.
-
03Cast
Poured, and cut from the tree.
The wax is set in plaster and burned out, and the metal is poured where it was. What comes out is your ring, rough, on a tree with the others.
-
04Finish
Set, polished, and handed to you.
The stone is set. The band is polished. I hand it to you across the same counter where it started. If it ever needs a size, bring it back.
At the counter
The work is in the case.
A drawing tells you how it is made. The case tells you how it turns out. Come see it, or start from your phone and bring the conversation with you.
Start with what you have
- A photo of something you saw and liked.
- A stone you already own, or a ring nobody wears.
- A number you have in mind. I design to it.
- A date. If it is for a day, say which one.
